We are delighted to be hosting this first-rate course in Worcestershire once again. An information leaflet and an application form have been sent out in the Black Bag, along with a new issue of NOTES. Places really are limited to a maximum of 20, so please apply without delay. The closing date is 18 September, after which any spare places will be allocated to teachers from outside county. Please note that this course is intended for KS1 and KS2, despite what it says in the leaflet (my fault!), and the versions you can download from here are correct. Click here for the information leaflet and here for the application form.
The revised arrangements for Vocal Force Worcestershire are printed in the latest issue of NOTES, which should be in schools next week. You can download an advance copy here.

VOCAL FORCE is part of the national Sing Up programme.
Vocal Force Worcestershire is a new singing programme for all people who work with primary age children.
Vocal Force is part of the national singing programme which aims to provide training, skills and repertoire for any potential singing leaders working with primary age children. As well as teachers, it is an ideal programme for teaching assistants, lunchtime supervisors, parents, governors and people from the local community who want to develop their confidence and abilities in order to lead singing with primary age children.
Starting in September 2009 free, inclusive, learner-centred training will be available in Worcester, Kidderminster and Redditch. Sessions will be held at all three locations on a fortnightly basis and will focus on the exploration of a number of aspects of singing – vocal technique, warm-ups, posture, breathing, improvisation, song development and repertoire.
Early next term we will be offering FREE TASTER SESSIONS for anyone who is interested in being part of this exciting programme at the following venues:
• REDDITCH – date TBC
Venue: Woodfield Middle School, Redditch
• WORCESTER – date TBC
Venue: Elgar Centre, Lower Broadheath, Worcester
• KIDDERMINSTER – date TBC
Venue: Franche Primary School, Kidderminster
To book your place on one of these taster sessions or for more information about the programme, please contact Alan Smith at Worcestershire Arts Education or email Julie Payne, Vocal Force area leader for Worcestershire at j.payne@worc.ac.uk
It is anticipated that there will be a lot of interest in the programme and as places are limited, you are advised to book as early as possible.
We look forward to working with you in the near future.
Voices and Visions 2009
May 20

Poster designed by North Bromsgrove High School student
This term’s events celebrating young peoples’ achievements in the arts begin with the opening of the annual art exhibition in Worcester Cathedral on Friday 22 May. Artwork from just over half of our county schools is on display in the Cloisters in the Cathedral. The exhibition is free to the public and is open during usual Cathedral opening times.
The exhibition includes a variety of exciting individual and collaborative art and design projects by students aged 4-18 years. This magnificent event demonstrates the enormous breadth of talent that exists in our county schools and includes digital media, sculpture, textiles, graphics, drawing, painting and mixed media.
Friday 22 May – Sunday 28 June
The 2009 festival also includes the following events at Malvern Theatres:
Music Showcase – Wed 8 July
Performing Arts Showcase – Thurs 9 July
Dance Showcase – Friday 10 July
Tickets for the showcases will be on sale from Malvern Theatres box office -01684 892277 from Monday 8 June, priced £7 and £5, or email bookings@malvern-theatres.co.uk
